Once upon a time, a girl traveling in a faraway land stumbled upon an old man peddling a drink he called "chai." With just one sip of the heavenly potion, she fell under a magic spell, vowing to devote her entire life to the delicious cup in her hand. This is the beginning of the Oregon Chai story, minus the dragon, of course.

The tale begins with a trek through the Himalayas, where a villager sold 12 cups of the aromatic beverage. Upon returning to America, the girl discovered that no such chai could be found. This sparked a series of kitchen experiments in March of 1994, resulting in a distinct and delicious concoction – the birth of Traditional Chai's American cousin, Oregon Chai.

It took four women with a newfound chai passion and an obsessive need to preach the gospel of chai for the underground Oregon Chai movement to take shape. Demand quickly grew, and the business expanded, hiring staff and moving into an office space, complete with staplers, tape, and Post-It notes.

Today, Oregon Chai is a subsidiary of Kerry, Inc., yet it remains true to its Oregonian roots. The company continues to spread its message of peace, tranquility, and great taste throughout the country, with its products now available in all 50 states, Canada, Europe, and Guam, in cafes, natural food & grocery stores, and restaurants.
